Job Summary
The Nursing Superintendent is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and supervising all nursing services within the hospital. The role ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care, efficient nursing operations, compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and continuous improvement in nursing practices.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and manage all nursing staff across the hospital.
Ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and patient-centered nursing care.
Prepare and monitor nursing duty rosters, shift schedules, and staff deployment.
Monitor nursing staff performance and provide guidance, mentoring, and support.
Ensure adequate nursing staffing levels in all departments.
Coordinate with doctors and other departments to ensure seamless patient care.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of nursing records and patient files.
Conduct regular nursing rounds to monitor patient care quality and adherence to standards.
Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control protocols, patient safety guidelines, and hospital policies.
Plan, organize, and conduct orientation, induction, and ongoing training programs for nursing staff.
Monitor the availability, maintenance, and proper utilization of nursing equipment and supplies.
Investigate patient complaints related to nursing services and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Participate in NABH accreditation activities, quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and hospital inspections.
Ensure all nursing staff comply with hospital SOPs, ethical practices, and professional standards.
Maintain discipline, punctuality, and professional conduct among the nursing team.
Coordinate with the HR department regarding recruitment, onboarding, leave management, attendance, performance appraisal, and staff development.
Prepare departmental reports, statistics, and presentations for hospital management.
Attend management meetings and ensure effective implementation of organizational decisions.
Lead nursing services during emergencies and ensure preparedness for disaster management.
Perform any other duties assigned by the hospital management.
Qualifications
B.Sc. Nursing / M.Sc. Nursing (Mandatory)
Valid Nursing Council Registration.
Additional certifications in Nursing Administration or Hospital Management are preferred.
Experience
Minimum 8–12 years of clinical nursing experience.
At least 3–5 years of experience in a Nursing Superintendent, Nursing Manager, or similar leadership role.
Experience in NABH-accredited hospitals is preferred.
Required Skills
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Sound knowledge of nursing administration, patient safety, and infection control.
Familiarity with NABH standards and quality assurance practices.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle emergencies and manage multidisciplinary teams.
Proficiency in hospital information systems (HIS) and Microsoft Office applications
